Spending on DRM software and hardware will reach more than $9bn by 2012. Total worldwide spending on DRM will reach just over $1bn by the end of 2007. As the value of digital content increases, DRM applications will also increase. However, this growth will be at a slower rate than the value of content because of the fact that the pricing of DRM is not tied to the value of the protected content.
