Remember that US file-sharer who lost his case after destroying the evidence on his computer? Well, he's just been handed the verdict – a fine of $40,850. Just $350 of that is court costs, but defendant Jeffrey Howell can consider himself lucky to have not been hit with a fine as big as the $222,000 handed down to Jammie Thomas last year. The judge in Howell's case has also ordered him to stop infringing copyrights.
