CDON is the latest digital music store to abandon DRM in favour of selling purely MP3 files. The company, which runs web stores in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, announced today that it's ditching the WMA format.The store will have a catalogue of 2.5 million MP3 tracks, and CDON says it's signed deals in Finland with EMI, The Orchard and Playground – although what this means for its stores in the other three countries is left unsaid.”I hope and believe that the record companies now will listen to consumers and give them relevant formats,” says CEO Mikael Olander. “It's only with legal workable alternatives we can prohibit illegal downloads and so far the music industry have been way too slow.”
