Can you make money from this streaming music lark? iLike says it is – CEO Ali Partov claims the company has been cash-flow positive since December, with revenues coming from a mixture of advertising and affiliate payments from iTunes/Amazon and gig ticket sales. The company now has 6.7 million monthly active users of its Facebook app, and is trumpeting an `iLike effect’ where artists who’ve promoted their albums on the site pre-release have seen them shoot to the top of the iTunes chart. VentureBeat points out two caveats – that cash-flow positive doesn’t necessarily mean profitable, depending how iLike is accounting for certain expenses, and that it only offers 30-second snippets of tracks rather than full-length streams.
