UK singer/songwriter Gary Go is the new Mentalists! As in he’s getting publicity for making music on an iPhone. In fact, he’s supporting Take That at Wembley Stadium in July, and plans to play several songs using his iPhone at the gigs. Go uses his iPhone to record guitar, drum, piano and horn sections, as well as recording his demos on a four-track studio application on the device. The news follows the publicity around UK band The Mentalists, who put a video on YouTube earlier this year of them playing a MGMT cover with their iPhones, and got gallons of press coverage as a result.”My biggest worry is that my phone will ring mid-song,” he tells This Is London, before some eejit industry expert chimes in with comments about feet-on-monitors rocking out. Ignore that bit.
