Mobile industry analyst Juniper Research has released a report claiming that by 2014, mobile application revenues will reach $25 billion.Although games will remain the largest category, Juniper reckons that the Media & Entertainment sector will also benefit, particularly as the way people pay for mobile apps changes. At the moment, the vast majority are bought for a one-off fee (or downloaded for free).However, as micro-transactions and subscriptions become more popular, Juniper thinks they'll overtake a la carte download fees by 2011 – with media and entertainment apps (including music) the largest beneficiary of these in-app payments.The report also claims that operators will launch their own app stores to compete with those from the likes of Apple, Nokia, Research In Motion, Microsoft and Google.
