Another day, another lawsuit. This time it’s EMI suing US-based streaming music site Grooveshark, following unsuccessful licensing negotiations. Grooveshark says it’s been in talks with EMI and other labels for the past year, but that “recently, EMI Records chose to abandon the template we’ve built with the help of other major copyright holders and opted for their traditional intimidation tactic of filing a lawsuit as a negotiating tool”. Grooveshark is still hopeful a deal can be done, but at the time of writing, EMI has yet to comment on the lawsuit.
