Social media site FriendFeed just added a new feature that lets users upload files to share with their friends. Yes, including MP3 music files. They can be played within the site itself, or downloaded by friends. So what about piracy? Users are only allowed to upload three MP3 files a day, and co-founder Bret Taylor says “Regarding copyrighted materials, our policy is to respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement that comply with applicable intellectual property law (including the Digital Millennium Copyright Act) and to terminate the accounts of repeat infringers”.We suspect he may be hearing from the RIAA sooner rather than later, as it’s the latest example of file-sharing features popping up in a mainstream social network.
