Apple may have got more than it bargained for when it asked Stephen Fry to be the warm-up man at one of its iTunes Festival gigs in London. Fry tore into the music industry for its approach to file-sharing, comparing the biz to “big tobacco”, while saying that The Pirate Bay founders'' reputation had been smeared by the industry, and that if the price of downloads came down to a “fair” level, most people would be happy to pay. Shortly after coming offstage he Twittered this: “Hope I''m not misunderstood. Such a pity if I get misrepresented as a ''help yourself and be a pirate'' advocate”. Perish the thought.
