We received an invite via Twitter direct message last night from an industry contact inviting us to sign up for 140 King of Pop – a massively multiplayer Twitter game based on Michael Jackson. It sounded intriguing, as did its promise to donate part of its proceeds to the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund. However, luckily before we signed up, our contact sent another message warning us that he hadn’t sent the original invite – it was spam. What’s more, on the 140 King of Pop website, the link to its terms of service is broken. Not such a Thriller, even though the idea of an artist-branded Twitter game does have potential.
