CNET is reporting that Apple won’t have a streaming music service ready to launch with its iPad tablet this Saturday. Which isn’t a big surprise. However, more interestingly, it claims that label managers HAVE been told that Apple plans to launch such a service in the third quarter of this year. This ties into previous claims that Apple is using recent acquisition Lala as the basis for a cloud-based music service, allowing people to upload their music collections to Apple’s servers and then stream them to various devices. CNET points out that this all means music won’t be a big factor in the iPad launch this weekend.
