Spotify's latest update to its iPhone app has been waved through by Apple in less than a week, bringing support for iOS 4's multi-tasking. Spotify can now run in the background, playing music while users do other things.However, as promised, there are other new features. A new What's New tab (right) shows users newly released albums on Spotify, the top 100 tracks in their country, and the social feed of the playlists their Facebook friends are posting.The app also now lets people share tracks and albums with their Spotify friends, in the same way that they can on Spotify's desktop application. Another small but significant update is on the battery life side of things – the app now “behaves much better when paused and in foreground with regards to battery consumption”.
