YouTube has announced that it's boosting its limit on video upload lengths from 10 to 15 minutes, in response to demand from its users. This won't make a difference to larger labels – YouTube's official content partners were freed from the 10-minute limit some time ago. However, for independent and unsigned bands looking to upload longer clips, it's good news. In a blog post, YouTube's Joshua Siegel says the change is due to YouTube's Content ID system for copyright holders. “Because of the success of these ongoing technological efforts, we are able to increase the upload limit today. We will continue our strong commitment to provide advanced technology and tools to protect the rights of small and large copyright owners worldwide.”
