Warner Bros and Disney have teamed up to sue Triton Media, an online advertising firm that has worked with nine websites identified by the studios as “one-stop-shops” for online piracy.They're seeking damages and a bar on Triton offering its services to the sites, some of which host infringing content, and some of which merely link to it.It's a fascinating lawsuit for this reason: if Warner Bros and Disney prevail, would they then go after other online advertising companies whose ads are used by copyright-infringing sites?There's one search giant, beginning with a 'G', which has been accused by the music industry of not doing enough to ensure its ads aren't being used by such sites…Note: Triton Media is not the same entity as Triton Media Group, the company whose logo was originally published alongside this article.
