Google and Verizon's recent joint statement on net neutrality put the cat among the internet pigeons in the US, but it seems no firm regulatory action will be coming from the Federal Communications Commission anytime soon. Its response to the statement is to ask for more comments from interested parties, focusing specifically on Google and Verizon's plans for managed services, and for no net neutrality when it comes to mobile networks. Comments are being solicited for the next 30 days, and then reply comments for 25 days after that. Consumer rights groups aren't happy. “We don't need more questions from the FCC, we need more answers,” says Free Press research director Derek Turner. “The FCC continues to kick the can down the road and prolong this process.”
