Billboard has been grilling its industry contacts about Google's planned music service, and claims that its initial proposal includes an a la carte download store alongside a subscription-based cloud locker service. It plans to charge people $25 a year for the latter, allowing them to access their music on any internet-connected device. Purchases on the a la carte store could be automatically added to the locker. What's more, Google apparently wants users to be able to stream any track in full once on its store, before it reverts to a 30-second sample. The report claims that Google is seeking a three-year licensing agreement from labels, and is proposing splitting the subscription revenues 50-50 with labels, with publishers getting 10.5% – although it's unclear whose 50% that would come out of.
