Google has launched a Chrome Web Store to showcase web apps for its Chrome browser, and music is high in the mix. The store is currently available in the US, and will be featured prominently in Chrome, which Google says is currently being used by 120 million people globally. MOG was one of the first music services to take advantage, launching a web app for its subscription service. “HTML5 is the future of browser-based technology, and users will love the experience that our new simplified and slick player offers,” says CEO David Hyman. Evolver.fm has a good roundup of the other music apps available in the store, including Rdio, Rhapsody, Aviary's music creation apps, and something intriguing called Freshspotify which notifies users when their favourite artists add new content to Spotify.
