It’s not just the music industry that’s unhappy with online storage service RapidShare. Games publisher Atari Europe actually took the company to court, aiming to force RapidShare to actively block downloads of its games – the case study being Alone In The Dark. Atari won the initial case, but that verdict has now been overturned by the Higher Regional Court of Dusseldorf. “The ruling demonstrates once again that RapidShare is operating a fully legal range and has taken measures against the misuse of its service which go beyond the level that is legally required,” says RapidShare’s Daniel Raimer. “We are confident that copyright holders will gradually come to accept this conclusion.” It may take a while, despite this being just the latest in a series of rulings that have gone RapidShare’s way.
