Talking of cloud music services for Android that use scan-and-match technology… Catch Media has announced that its Play Anywhere platform now supports Android smartphones and tablets, joining its existing support for iOS and BlackBerry. The platform is currently being used for Carphone Warehouse’s My Music Anywhere service in the UK, but Catch says it will launch in the US this summer – for which Android support is definitely a pre-requisite. “With 400,000 new Android devices activated every single day, increasing My Music Anywhere’s compatibility to all Android phones and tablets opens up the service to thousands of new users as well as allowing established customers to access their music on even more of their devices,” says CEO Yaacov Ben-Yaacov. Catch Media says its catalogue now has more than six million tracks, although thus far, Carphone Warehouse hasn’t given any public figures on how My Music Anywhere service is doing in the UK.
