The UK’s largest ISP, BT, has confirmed that it is working on its own music service, although for now it’s not giving any more details. Asked by The Register why it’s not investing in a ‘decent music service’, head of retail Simon Milner replies simply “We are”, before clamming up. His interview focuses mainly on the fallout from last week’s High Court ruling that BT must block access to the Newzbin2 site. Milner says the ISP will implement this ruling, but will require further court orders to do the same for other sites. “We believe in an open internet – we won’t do any other blocking,” he says. “We will never stop our customers getting to any service they want to get to unless a court orders us to.”
