Telco Orange’s relationship with streaming music service Deezer is well known, and has been a key factor in the latter’s popularity in France. Now Orange has announced a separate move to buy a 34% stake in the web operations of French radio station Skyrock. That means Skyrock’s popular blog platform, which attracts 8.6 million visitors a month and has more than 33 million active blogs, targeting 12-24 year-olds.

“Following the acquisition of stakes in Deezer and Dailymotion, Orange is strengthening its positions in content aggregation,” says Orange’s EVP of group strategy and development Elie Girard. “This enables us to be even more receptive to our customers and particularly the 12-24 age group. In addition, we will benefit from the web expertise of the Skyrock teams in developing supplementary services to be integrated into the Orange sites.”
