We reported earlier this year on Midemlab finalist BandApp’s temporary shutdown of its platform for artist apps (Bulletin, 20-Jan-12). Now CEO Adam Perry has confirmed that the company is aiming to relaunch by early March with new features. “We were at the end of beta — we learnt a lot about what we need to do differently, and that kind of meant starting again. So we did,” he tells Evolver.fm. “Our big lesson is that although look and feel and getting a web app to perform almost like a native app is important, allowing conversation and mobile community building is way more important. We got the first bit right, and now we’ve improved it beyond recognition. But we are adding community in a big way.” BandApp will still allow artists to create their web apps for free, splitting revenues from track sales and advertising.
