After a lengthy hiatus, Ben Folds Five have reformed for a tour and new album. The latter will be funded by a campaign on crowdfunding site Pledge Music. Alas, that means we can’t see how much they’re raising exactly, unlike Kickstarter, but we can tell that the trio have already raised 193% of their target. In this case, the rewards are relatively simple: a $10 pledge gets fans a digital download of the new album, $15 gets the CD, $27 gets a tour t-shirt plus download, and $42 gets the CD, t-shirt and download. No band-playing-at-your-house or backstage goodies yet, although in a letter to fans posted today, Ben Folds says “we’re coming up with some good extra items for the pledge – some based on the suggestions you’ve sent”.
