We’ve seen lots of artists launch remix contests in the last couple of years, distributing stems of tracks for fans to remix, then reserving the rights to release the results if they’re good. British band Chapel Club are giving the idea an interesting twist. They’re releasing stems from their song ‘Good Together‘ for free, but anyone who remixes them can then sell the results themselves, keeping all the profits (and rights). Chapel Club have also signed up Cue Songs to help remixers submit their tracks for sync opportunities. “We can only do this because we’re on the eve of signing a new record deal, so get to it while you still have the chance,” explain the band. They’ll still receive publishing royalties on the remix sales.
