Labels get $210m in settlement from Sirius in pre-1972 case

The dispute over pre-1972 recordings and what broadcast royalties they receive from satellite and online stations has resulted in labels getting $210m from SiriusXM and a new legal precedent being set for future royalty payments. The RIAA – representing ABKCO Music & Records, Capitol Records, Sony Music Entertainment, UMG Recordings and Warner Music Group – led the suit on behalf of labels and this came in the wake of the class action lawsuit filed by Flo & Eddie of 1960s act, The Turtles.
