As our lead story today explores, streaming services are now having a big influence on the UK’s singles chart.
But the body that compiles that chart, the Official Charts Company, is also deepening its involvement on the streaming services.
Last week, the OCC officially launched its own branded playlists on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer and Napster.
“You’ll discover a selection of playlists – from the biggest tracks of the week, to future hits, retro gems and other curiosities, all powered entirely by exclusive Official Charts data,” is how the organisation explained the playlists to fans.
Among its playlists are the official singles chart, as well as the official trending chart, and an ‘Official Chart Flashback’ playlist updated every Thursday, reposting the entire top 40 from a certain week in history.
