August 3, 2017:Facebook recruiting music publishing biz-dev manager for EMEA

Facebook’s music-licensing ambitions continue, with news that the social network is recruiting a music publishing business development manager for the EMEA region.

The London-based role requires someone who is “passionate about the changing music ecosystem, technology and supporting our goal of connecting people through social media, the mobile eco-system and business strategy”, and will lead Facebook’s “strategy and negotiations with EMEA music publishers and societies, as well as collaborate with our product and media partnerships teams to ensure a coordinated and best-in-class licensing structure”.

The recruitment ad, spotted first by MBW, calls for more than six years’ experience in music-partner relationship management, as well as digital music negotiation experience for musical compositions.

Publishers have been to the fore in calls for Facebook to put a music-licensing structure in place, at least to cover music used in the videos being uploaded to and livestreamed on its service by users.
