Facebook sets 12 March licensing deadline for indie publishers

Earlier this month, Facebook announced a partnership with HFA/Rumblefish that would enable independent publishers and self-published songwriters to opt in to a standardised music-licensing and administration deal with the social network.

One extra detail that has since become apparent: the deadline to opt in is 12 March. TuneRegistry revealed it in a blog post advising songwriters and publishers how to get set up with Facebook, with TuneRegistry one of the platforms that can be used to submit the necessary compositions data to HFA/Rumblefish.

“We are very happy to see Facebook take the steps in the right direction to enable independent rights-holders and DIY musicians to monetise on its platforms,” added the company’s CEO Dae Bogan in his blog post.
