Apple plots aggressive iPhone plan

Apple has contracted current manufacturing partner, Foxconn, to begin production of the next-generation 3G iPhone in May, with a view to ship three million of them in June. Digitimes reports Apple has ordered 25 million of the new devices across the life of the product, (usually one year) suggesting aggressive sales targets. Apple plans soon to widen its iPhone franchise, introducing it into new countries and moving away from its current exclusive tie-ups with carriers. Meanwhile in the UK Apple has issued an injunction against 11 e-tailers who are offering parallel imports of iPods for GBP £15 less than the EU versions. It’’s a bit cheeky given Apple’’s previous flouting of EU pricing regulations over iTunes tracks.
