Radiohead beat NIN and Coldplay with online promotion
Analysis from web metrics firm Hitwise indicates that Radiohead were more successful than Nine Inch Nails and Coldplay at attracting and then maintaining traffic following their recent album promotions/giveaways. Radiohead’s website saw a bigger spike around the release of In Rainbows than the other bands saw around their recent giveaways, and since In Rainbows Radiohead’s site has maintained a higher level of traffic than it had before. However, Hitwise says US visits to Coldplay’s site increased 19-fold after their new single Violet Hill was released for free online.
