GarageBand users making music with Rock Band drumkit

The crossover between playing along to console games with plastic instruments, and making actual music is gathering pace. The next Guitar Hero game will let people ‘compose’ their own songs and share them, for example.

However, gadget hackers are pursuing other paths. For example, it’s now possible to connect the drumkit supplied with Rock Band to a Mac, and use it to record electronic drum tracks in Apple’s GarageBand application.

All you need is GarageBand and the Rock Band drumset (obviously), and a $15 shareware software driver, apparently. Full instructions are here.
