Shazam increases database by two million tracks
Shazam has announced that it’s boosted its music database from six to eight million tracks, thanks to a raft of new partnerships and direct sourcing.
That said, the company isn’t saying who those partnerships are with, other than that the database has been extending to cover more North American, Asian and European content. The two million new tracks will be linked into Shazam’s existing content, including artist biographies and album reviews, not to mention links to buy the music.
“This increase in our database cements Shazam’s position as the leading mobile music discovery service in the world,” says head of music Will Mills. “With our strong music alliances we gain access to the most relevant music well before many other music services, which ensures users can discover popular and niche music all over the globe.”
