iTunes Plus rumours heat up again
There was a lot of chatter in the blogosphere last night (and again today) about Apple taking iTunes fully DRM-free today, via deals with Sony, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group. It kicked off with this story on AppleInsider, which is spreading rapidly.
At the time of writing, that still hasn’t happened – the iTunes Plus section of the store remains stubbornly populated by EMI and independent artists.
However, it seems there may be some fire behind the smoke – it’s also rumoured that Apple will run a ‘12 Days of iTunes’ promotion just after Christmas to give away music and other content, which may or may not tie in with the DRM-free announcement.
If it happens. Which it may not. Oh, you get the picture…
