Artists to watch in 2009: our chart of charts

Okay, so everyone and their aunt is predicting what artists will be big in 2009, from iTunes to the BBC to every MP3 blog known to man. So we thought we’d read them all, and use some cutting-edge aggregation technology (i.e. our rough workings out on paper) to figure out who the consensus opinion says will be big next year.

Here’s our list – the links take you to their MySpace profiles.

White Lies
Little Boots
Florence and the Machine
Mumford and Sons
VV Brown
Lady Gaga
Thecocknbullkid
Dan Black
Frankmusik
Dinosaur Pile Up
Alessi’s Ark
Passion Pit
La Roux
Master Shortie

Note, it’s not over-strong on hip-hop, and there’s a bias towards UK acts – this is more about what the sources we’ve used are recommending than our personal choice. So don’t shout at us! But do post your comments with your own recommendations for 2009…

Happy Christmas! The Music Ally Blog is taking a festive break, and will be back on 2nd January.
