Steve Jobs not dying: it’s a “hormone imbalance”

Apple boss Steve Jobs has issued a statement clarifying the state of his health, after intensifying blogosphere chatter that his absence from this week’s MacWorld conference was due to serious health problems.

Not so, says Jobs, in a letter published on Apple’s website that addresses his noticeable weight loss throughout 2008.

“Fortunately, after further testing, my doctors think they have found the cause—a hormone imbalance that has been “robbing” me of the proteins my body needs to be healthy. Sophisticated blood tests have confirmed this diagnosis,” he writes.

The remedy for this nutritional problem is relatively simple and straightforward, and I’ve already begun treatment. But, just like I didn’t lose this much weight and body mass in a week or a month, my doctors expect it will take me until late this Spring to regain it. I will continue as Apple’s CEO during my recovery.”

The rumours were a serious business, given Apple’s status as a public company. Apple and Jobs will hope this letter will scotch them once and for all. We reckon Jobs will appear in some way during the keynote though, even if it’s via video-conference. The full text of his letter can be read by clicking below.

Dear Apple Community,

For the first time in a decade, I’m getting to spend the holiday season with my family, rather than intensely preparing for a Macworld keynote.

Unfortunately, my decision to have Phil deliver the Macworld keynote set off another flurry of rumors about my health, with some even publishing stories of me on my deathbed.

I’ve decided to share something very personal with the Apple community so that we can all relax and enjoy the show tomorrow.

As many of you know, I have been losing weight throughout 2008. The reason has been a mystery to me and my doctors. A few weeks ago, I decided that getting to the root cause of this and reversing it needed to become my #1 priority.

Fortunately, after further testing, my doctors think they have found the cause—a hormone imbalance that has been “robbing” me of the proteins my body needs to be healthy. Sophisticated blood tests have confirmed this diagnosis.

The remedy for this nutritional problem is relatively simple and straightforward, and I’ve already begun treatment. But, just like I didn’t lose this much weight and body mass in a week or a month, my doctors expect it will take me until late this Spring to regain it. I will continue as Apple’s CEO during my recovery.

I have given more than my all to Apple for the past 11 years now. I will be the first one to step up and tell our Board of Directors if I can no longer continue to fulfill my duties as Apple’s CEO. I hope the Apple community will support me in my recovery and know that I will always put what is best for Apple first.

So now I’ve said more than I wanted to say, and all that I am going to say, about this.

I do not normally comment on a blog however I am interested in this post so I was forced to do so. Going off the subject a bit, what are your views about walking? Which is generally being promoted as the best exercise to burn fat.

The universal rate of winner of these weight loss plans which are incessantly competing with each other is more or less the one. And the most funny part is that these programs all choke at the same vault in spite of working really tall claims. This bechances because the consistency gets accustomed to the severity through which it is put and aligns itself to the new routine and the metabolic process slows down. You have to be smarter than nature to be able to illusion the body into falling back weight. Without pursuing this measure then you will always inquire why you cannot lose weightiness.

With all of these advantages to van leasing, it is important to note that there are some disadvantages. The biggest one of those is that one does not actually own the van at any time. Even during the period that the individual is driving the van it is not theirs. It always remains the property of the leasing company.
