Former Sugababe Mutya Buena is already benefitting from taking part in the new series of Celebrity Big Brother – sales of her album have leapt by 106% on Play.com since last night’s episode, when she sang to her fellow housemates.

The cynic in us wonders how many copies of the album Play.com was selling before yesterday – a 106% rise from ‘not very many’ isn’t quite as impressive, and it’s fair to say the album hadn’t exactly set the charts alight in recent months.

Play.com has revealed what kind of a boost the other musical housemates are getting, too. La Toya Jackson’s album Sexual Feeling got an 89% rise, Coolio’s Gangsta’s Paradise rose by 43%, and sales of X by Michelle Heaton’s former band Liberty X jumped by, er, 24%. The last album by A1 – whose singer Ben Adams is in the house – isn’t even available on the UK retailer’s site any more.

Mercifully, Mini-Me actor Verne Troyer has yet to release an album, as far as we’re aware. Not yet, anyway.
