Michael Jackson tickets demand crashes O2 servers
So much for O2’s exclusive pre-sale on Michael Jackson tickets this morning, then. At the time of writing, the company’s priority tickets site has crashed under the weight of demand, alternately throwing up ‘Server is too busy’ and page not found messages when we try to access it.
O2 customers who registered yesterday to get a special code are already commenting on our previous story – while predictable, the server snafu is a bit of an own-goal for O2, as it risks angering customers who were looking forward to securing their tickets.
“Well my O2 priority password is not valid and neither are 2 friends of mine who have a password!!! To say we’re annoyed is an understatement!! Would love to know who else on O2 has not been able to get their ‘unique password’ for this event to work!!” is one comment.
“ive received a code from the 02, but went online at 7am the website says server busy and link broken and phone lines 2402 free on 02 mobile say network busy it wont connect” is another.
Ouch. We’ll keep hitting refresh, obviously, and let you know how it goes.

The o2 priority password is only valid for the first night, there is a separate box for the o2 password on the first night booking page

yeah i tried to get back on the o2 blueroom site but that was busy but you are meant to go through ticketmaster as there was a sepperated box for o2 promo codes, which has now been removed.
I waited half an hour through ticketmaster telling me i had to wait only to find out that there wasn’t actually any left, foamin!

I bought my tickets at 3:03am (EDT) and got best available in BX 103. I tried to get on again but ticketmaster isn’t exactly working…it says the wait is 15min, but it’s been close to 40min.

I was on at 7am, and went through ticketmaster with my code. I was in a “7 minute” queue, but it lasted for more like 15 minutes. However, I purchased my tickets with relative ease. So sorry to hear of all your purchasing woes guys! Hope u get sorted with tickets eventually!

the password o2 give you, only works on blue room, you need the 7 letter/numbers code from his own website presale thing if that makes sense? basically, u cant use your o2 password on ticketmaster, why couldnt seetickets have been used instead?

Well its bloody typical! promote the ‘que-jumping’ culture by sending out pre-sale codes! I’ve been on since they came on sale waiting in line, lost the connection twice, once at just 4 minutes past. Lost my place in line obviously.. ticketmaster said ’sorry for the inconvenience’. well then ok ticketmaster, no problem, you know! i often get up in the morning to wait for tickets to go on sale, nothing special! i do this all the time! all a publicity stunt if you ask me, i’d love to see michael in concert, but the method of sale is just rIdiculous. MAKE IT EASIER FOR FANS, NOT HARDER!

Same story here as Owen above – waited the “15 minutes” which was actually ONE HOUR, then got a countdown to seven minutes, then five…then got a message saying that there had been an error, please contact customer service.
That’s on the official MJ / Ticketmaster presale.
On the O2 presale? Can’t even get in.
These presales have been going on for years now, with big bands like the Rolling Stones. Ticketmaster and O2 are big companies with big technology behind them. This is 2009. They can do better.

I got through on ticket master it took 45 mins of having to refresh a time out page…but got my two tickets…am glad i didn’t just sign up on 02,i signed up on the jacksons site and got my code the next day,my 02 codes just seems useless,am guessing 02 didn’t think the page would be that busy,just another day in the office they thought…maybe i should apply for a job with o2…i could be the person who thinks ahead lol

My friend got through on the MJ website with wait for it………’a special and unique password’ she was sent – and after 40 mins was told ’sorry, there was a problem processing your order!’. This is ridiculous – and will we get ANY type of ’sorry’ from O2 or the chance to actually pre-buy tickets? Hah! I doubt it – take our custom and then who cares eh O2!

Got up at 7am to use my unique code that was emailed me, got really excited when I got through to the 15 minute queue, went down to 5 minutes then I got a message saying that I had to check my order history or contact customer services. This is my 3rd try and still no luck. Got to go to work now so I’ll miss out. Damn O2 and Ticketmaster, they knew the demand would be high, get the Technology sorted!!!!

This always happens on ticketmaster. I have tried to get tickets before for high demand concerts in the last ten years, the infrastructure cannot cope with high demand concerts. At least they have had the queuing system in place for a few years now. Prior to this you would just get “Server Busy”, no queuing system then.
They are not going to increase the server capacity to cope with demand for 2 or 3 big concerts a year. The cost to increase server and network capacity is not viable. So unfortunately we have to put up with the way the system is. Maybe they should do a lottery for concerts like this.
Time to try again on Friday, but it will be the same unless you are fast on the form entry.

and p.s when i got through i was only put on a two minute waiting queue. i believe that it will not work if you’re put in on a 15 min queue, because it is just too long for the server to get you through. i suggest going back trying different dates so the queue isnt 15 mins

Ridiculous really.
Waited 25 minutes in a queue after requesting tickets for the first Friday, and then get told there are none.
So the obvious thing to do, as there’s no option to search for “any date”, is open a few different browser windows and search separately for different dates and buy from the first search that’s successful. After 20 minutes of watching counters tick down, get a message saying that’s not allowed.
What a joke. So you have to search each individual date, and wait 20 minutes at least each time to be told they’ve sold out? No thanks. And if you are lucky enough to get some tickets, no doubt you’ll pay Ticketmaster a fortune in booking fees for the privilege of all that hanging around!!

I got up at 6 to gett this ready, spent all night discussing logistics with a friend. Get on and get error messages for about 30 mins and then the o2 site goes up. With a smile on my face, i go to the ticketmaster site, put in the code and wait… and wait… wait until it say 3 minutes to go and then it crashes and says sorry, but there was a problem.
After numerous retrys it crashed, then it went through! Only to be fucked up by the fact the tickets were gone, 15 minutes to ee that it is sold out! FUCK!
Trying shows to see less popular ones and then it stopped accepting my code!, bastards!
all sold out now… gonna have to wait till friday.
I am inraged, I don’t know if i have ever been this frustrated and angry.

Really feel for you all as I’ve been at it since 7am as well. Got two o2 codes and neither works now!! Stupid o2 yet again failing to keep customers happy. I was sat in the Apple store on iPhone launch day for 8 hours waiting to get a phone as their systems had failed under the demand!!!! Why don’t these geniuses do something to stop this happening. Will they ever learn?

Was online from 7am – 10:30am. o2 code worked initially, let me select number of tickets and date, i then watched a screen that said i had a 15min wait to see if the tickets were available. The screen refreshed every few seconds. The 15mins worked out about 45mins only to find out the request i made was not available e.g. 4 tickets for wednesday performance. So i played around with quantity & dates, but it always came back saying tickets not availble.
EVENTUALLY MY CODE STOPPED WORKING AT 10:30
Great one o2, well done, an excellent bit of PR hype for your brand. Not only will the show definately sell out, but o2 will have sold a few thousand extra mobile phone sim cards and guaranteed themselves endless brand awareness promotion from the media coverage of this appalling mess from now until the end of the concert.

we got up at 6.30 am – Jason in Wales and me in Oxford and we used 4 computers just in case. It took us 2 hours 15 mins and around 10 tries to get 2 tickets. At first we were requesting 4 best available and it just wasnt working. Then we requested 2 seats wherever on Tues 14th and it seemed to work straight away. YAY. We then went through and did the same for the second batch of 2 tickets – means we cant sit with our friends but who cares, we get to see MJ!!! O2 has now confirmed that all of its presale tickets have gone, but as the comments above say, more gigs are being announced, so for now it seems waiting for your presale code from the MJlive site, or hammering refresh when tickets go on general sale on Friday, is the best bet.

I got up half 6. Got all my details down in notepad so i could copy and paste to be that lil extra quicker.
Got in the queue with ticketmaster, 2mins left and boom, you have another page open, try again. so i did and the system was overloaded. Finally got back to the 15min wait, 8 mins left, then server to busy and sold out on the next go.
Chose another date, finally, 3hrs later i manage to score myself 4 tickets on the 26th.
What annoys me, costing me over 300 and i dont get an option for special delivery, the rest of the world do but England didnt have an option. I hate to take the risk but its michael jackson, if it was someone else i wouldnt risk it cuz if my tickets didnt arrive im out 300 cuz they dont do refunds which is realy harsh esp with the CREDIT crunch

Woo Hoo. Booked 2 tickets then booked another 2 for the following week. my advice is. Dont open more than 1 window at a time or it will kick you off. Then I tried for Tues as less popular than Fri Sat or Sun. Once you do get through be quick to put in your payment details or else you will be chucked off. we used the code from the MJ website. Had loads of probs this morning but once I got through it was fine and I’ve managed it twice as has my sister in law. Hope this helps. See you there

Hi, i registered with micheal jackson website on sunday, and recieved my unique pin on tuesday,i also registered with the o2 one on sunday too,but didnt recieve anything, i slept in this morning,so applied for tickets at 7.30 online with ticket master, with my unique code,everytime i got the message,this could take 15 mins,twice it failed,after aving waited something like 30mins, then the 3rd time the mins went down 15,14,13 all the way to 8,then started going back up,i was persistant and waited, and at 9.30am i got my 4 x £75 tickets with great view with aftershow party,for extra, this cost me a total of £384 in total.

got 4 tickets for the 30th july using a presale code that was send from the MJ site, took AGES though and had to refresh a few times, there was a lul in traffic at around 10am I think, as it was taking around 4-5 mins to check for tickets… so it does work but I think theres far too much demand and not enough tickets, but as we’ve gone on more an more dates have been added so hopefully everyone should get their chance!

FYI you can only use your code once. so it wont work if someone already has their tickets and then gives you their code.

well if u have read it it says that if u book again after using the code once then both booking will be canceled and so i think sharing is the case lov !!!! DO NOT SHARE CODES READ FIRST AS U WILL BE CANCELED !!!!!

I called o2 and all they could say was there there was 1.5million people logging on this morning so that is why some of the codes did not work. Ticketmaster are no longer taking the o2 codes.
I will try on Friday and hope to god that I get some. I refuse to pay the ebay prices, its obscene!

phone ticketmaster and they have said that the allocation has sold out. but keep pusueing online you can get 2 tickets for 75 each or 1 ticket for £50. purchased mine at 15:00 UK time

someone on here wrote that if you try and use the code more than you are allowed (ie for more than 4 tickets) all transactions get cancelled. so probably a mistake to put that on a public forum. It could be ok just warning you.

what happens if some genuine person has a code uses it and then someone else finds it out and uses it to use the last 1 or 2 that the original person hasnt used, it wont make a difference and wont cancel the original booking , thats just myth

I know how it works now. 1 code is for buying 4 tickets, if someone bought 2, then it is possible to buy another 2 tickets on the same code. The O2 code is not valid anymore, since around 10.30 AM… O2 allocation of tickets is finished, now you can just get via MJlive website…
If i manage to get my 2 tickets i’ll post the code here so someone can have the other 2, but i’m having no luck in finding tickets available for any date… =(

Looking at the very wide distribution of the seats available for sale on Ebay, seatwave, getmein, etc. it doesn’t look that hopeful that many seats have been retained for the general sale on Friday

i tried several times today for 2 bloody tickets on various dates. All i could score was upper level seats. So i tried for one ticket much later and found it takes only a minute like that. I ll wait on friday morning. If i dont score at least lower rows i ll have to go all out on vip… BLOODY site.

There are now 28 shows for MJ, thats 504,000 seats. With 252,000 seats available on Friday. Still not enough maybe, he will stay at the O2 Arena until Christmas!! I think they need 60 shows to cope with demand. Maybe he will be able to buy Neverland back from the profit

I complained to O2 about their presale code which stopped being recognised by about 10:30am, I was fuming that I did not register on the MJlive web site, because all the extra days were being added all day long on the 11th and I had no hope in hell of getting a ticket with an O2 code. O2 told me that only 2000 tickets were for sale on presale, yes 2000. Makes you choke.
Friday will be another painful day, I wish the ticketmaster web site would give some indication how many general tickets are for sale for each date available, rather than getting your hopes up, its just pathetic. Good Luck everyone for Friday!!!!

Morning all.
My Dad is in a wheelchair there for having to use the disabled phone line to get Jackson tickets.
I have heen sat on the phone since 7.00am and I have got through to a ringing tone at least 50 times however after 2/5 rings the line goes dead like some one has hung up.
I called at the begining of the week to confirm that the lines will be open at the same time as standard tickets, and it was confirmed it would be. However this isn’t just a busy phone line and you can not get Disabled Tickets with any other way (online ect).

i too was feeling very desperate from about 6.30am today, ticketmaster booking phonelines are constantly engaged and their other numbers will say some sh1t like, “sorry all our operaters are having a tea break for the next 4 hours” —- line cuts dead!
i tried the ticketmaster.co.uk website which was totally jammed, got success through http://www.ticketmaster.ie for January,
IF TICKETMASTER SAYS YOU’LL WAIT 15 MINS OR MORE IT’LL BE MORE LIKE 30 MINS – and even then you are just looking for any available tickets – not guarenteed.
I had almost given up but got mine in the end….

Well, in the excitement I noticed it said American Express preferred but took my chances in case it came up with any other options (because I blindly didn’t notice the “American Express card holders only notice – I know, so stupid of me!) – but anyways, after an hour of trying with 5 browsers I gave up, closed all of them and tried once more – bloody typical, this time I literally had to wait 30 seconds to get through, got hold of some tickets and then, of course, hit a dead end because I don’t have that card. This is an absolute joke. I got the presale code and tried for hours with that, yesterday and Wednesday with no luck. Now, I’ve been on the UK website for nearly 3 hours and I’m not even getting to the date selection screen. It just sits there saying Processing and refreshes over and over. It’s been like this for the past 45 minutes.
You’d think that Ticketmaster would sort out this fiasco.

Bobby,got mine through black market,paid £300..had no option,I calculated 360k sold out already,that makes some 7.2k per show in the pre sale,in 18 hours(with the codes) so now without codes,this should double as the rates of visitors on the website doubles,I think by 7pm tonight they’ll sold out(bloody O2 arena only takes 18thousand)

It should be some law agains’t that,in the World cup 2002 you could only get tickets if you had a mastercard,the trading agency came down hard on Fifa,as it is unfair and only increased the number of tickets sold illegaly ,up to 100x the face value.And at nearly 19.9% interest rate,why on earth would I sign up for a amex,used to have it and I dont recomend,very expensive,and not everyone accepts them now,the whole thing sucks

I also had the pre sale code, i tried the getting up at 6am, i tried the phonelines, etc etc ticketmaster.co.uk was USELESS wouldnt even load the page up…
Id been trying Irish ticketmaster for quite a while http://www.ticketmaster.ie the wait is much less (None of this 15 mins rubbish) i tried this several times for different dates etc…
I got two tickets in the end this way…maybe if you’re trying for 4 tickets it wont find them coz they’re all together, try 2 lots of 2 maybe? (i know, twice as much waitin huh?)
I’d defo say use Irish ticketmaster tho….hope this helps, dont give up yet:)

No – having AMEX appears to make no difference to waiting time. Just got through (3 hours processing) ‘no tickets for date required’. Why can’t they just state which dates/tickets are still available BEFORE commencing processing?? Now have to start all over again………

Totally agree about the AMEX thing tho, an absolute scandal…and you can’t use them in most shops anyway…! However, when all these AMEX people dont want to buy the tickets allocated to them, they will probably go up for general sale.
Apparently, (dont quote me) 50% of tickets were up for presale, theyre all gone obviously, over 1 million people registered for presale codes,
50 dates at 20,000 capacity – 1 million people…
The maths just doesnt work does it?! – maybe he’ll put on even more extra dates…or else you may have to face up to paying ebay prices (Gutted… – dont fund the touts)

Yer I had a few codes, and none of them worked. Tried getting on the site this morning and I think it was down.
Ticketmaster was suffering from the same symptoms but had sold out by the time I could get in.

Just got tickets through to ticket master 08444772000. Been on hold for 25 mins though. Then got through and the tickets they gave me her computer froze and we lost them so had to start again. Most dates are gone but dates is Jan / Feb keep coming available and being shouted out in the background.
I’ve got sh***y top tier back row seats. But beggars can’t be choosers and if you get through just accept anything!

Do try the ticket Master number as it puts you in a queue for the next available assistant. Don’t try the other ticket master numbers as they just cut you off and ask you to call back later.

Hey ppl, i have been trying to get tickets since 7am but the site keeps crashing, and reloading and stuff. where else can i get tickets? that are relatively cheapish…i love michael jackson but it would be hard for me to pay 275 quid a ticket

I am really glad you got them. Sorry for pushing the price up.
You still got them at a nice price all things considered.
A year from now you will remember the actual concert, and not price of the ticket. I am sure it will be worth it.
I am off now, I have never even heard of this site I am on now, so I think I have spent enough time on it.

I got them here: viagogo
2 tickets, Upper-Tier, Best View, on a Saturday, for £475 includes all handling fees. The tickets alone were £200 each.

Think I may have some great tickets available – 2 upper tier block 405 for sat 1st Aug – want best price.
2 of us were trying to get them and both got them – which seems a bit unfair as so many people have lost out.
Also possibly have 4 fab tickets block 112 near stage – for 16th Feb 10 – great valentines pressies!

I think it is crazy to pay this much for the tickets. I tried the number suggested earlier and the ceapest they have are for £250.Quite a sum if you take a face valu of the ticket as £75. i just hope that I win millions of pounds before the last of his concerts and be able to buy myslef a hospitality or vip package. :/

I got mine working but you had to go through the blueroom website to get to a special part of the ticketmaster website. I saved the web address needed the night before because it was obvious the website would crash. I didn’t get mine at presale but got them at general sale when more priority tickets were offered. I only got through to 2402 at 12 on presale day but by then all o2 tickets had gone.

I got my tickets via http://www.thomsonexperience.com they are tickets + hotel for only £418 an they are in Block 401, 422 Upper Tier seating!! I am so happy for that
I have one night hotel plus the concert and I don’t spend all my money only in the tickets.
I will be the 8th of July at the concert!!!

Ok….so i am so unhappy, i will tel you all my story and thinking bout it makes me cry lol, so for 3 weeks i had my self worked and new i was going to get 2 michael jackson tickets for me and my dad, his b/day is in april and this was a fantastic opportunity for a b/day present, my dad has been a fan of him since he was very young and has never been to see him so i thought YES now is the time, ok so on the 13TH OR MARCH AT 6AM I WOKE UP EARLY ENOUGH TO GO ON TICKET MASTER, I HIT THE BUTTON AT 7AM DEAD ON, FOR TWO TICKETS FRONT ROW AND WOOHOO IT TOOK ME THROUGH, IT SAID 15 MINUTES OR MORE ETC THEN SO ON TILL 1 MINUTE BY THIS POINT I WAS ABSOLUTELY SHAKING AND EXCITED AND IT SAID WE HAVE TWO TICKETS RESERVED FOR YOU, I WAS REALLY EXCITED AND COULDNT BELEIVE, SO IT SAID TO ME YOU HAVE 2 MINUTES TO CONFIRM AND PAY ETC, SO OF I GO TYPING IN MY CARD NUMBER ETC AND PRESS “CONFIRM” AND IT SAYS TO ME SORRY WRONG NUMBER, IT THEN SAID YOU HAVE 50SECONDS LEFT, IT THEN DECIDED TO f’IN TELL ME THAT IT DOES NT EXCEPT SOLO DEBIT CARDS SO I RAN DOWN STAIRS AND GOT MY MUMS CARD AND TAPPED ALL INFO IN AND PRESSED CONFIRM BUT THEY F’IN BLOODY SOLD THEM ON
TO OTHER PEOPLE I WAS SO ANGRY AND IN TEARS….I COULDNT BELEIVE WHAT HAS HAPPENED, I TRYED FOUR MORE TIMES AFTER THIS FOR DIFFERENT DATES BUT IT KEPT FAILING AND NO MORE TICKETS WERE LEFT, BY 9.30AM I WAS NEARLY 2 HOURS LATE FOR WORK AND MY MANAGER WAS NOT IMPRESSED….I CANT EXPLAIN HOW ANGRY AND UPSET I AM…THANKS TO TICKET MASTER AND NT EXCEPTING SOLO’S MY DAD LOST OUT ON SEEING MICHAEL JACKSON….:-( IVE TRYED EVERYWHERE NOW BUT CANT FIND ANY!
