Michael Jackson fans invited to vote for O2 setlist

michael-jackson-setlistFans who registered to buy Michael Jackson tickets have received a follow-up email inviting them to vote for their ideal setlist at his 50 O2 gigs by constructing a playlist on the official AEG site.

However, it’s a bit limited – while you can pick songs and move them around, there are no streams or even 30-second clips to listen to. Perhaps they’re assuming that fans can remember all the songs without a clip to help – or more realistically, perhaps they don’t want to pay the streaming licensing fees.

Also, bafflingly, there’s no quickfire option to say `All the old stuff, nothing after Bad, especially not Earth Song’. And no Jackson 5 tracks are included either, so you can’t request ABC or I Want You Back. Come on AEG, this needs a bit more lateral thinking…

I hope he does stuff from after Bad. I have selected Earth Song and ranked pretty high up, as it is an epic piece of music and his biggest selling single ever in the UK ever (sold 1 million units plus in UK).

Who cares about 30-second clips or video streams – i didn’t need these to pick my set list – any true MJ fan will know the songs just by title! I think its brilliant that AEG have set this up & are letting the fans have a say.. The man is a muscial legend, I love him and can’t to see him in concert in July whatever the setlist! :)

I guess this fella wasn’t on the websites trying to buy concert tickets! Ticket buyers have been put through enough online pain. Any decision to add clips and video streams, after experiencing 3 hour waits and websites crashing left right, and centre, means risking technical glitches that could very well trigger web-based PTSD. Sweet, simple and smooth online experiences are the way to go right now for any recent MJ ticket purchaser.

    All that being said…

YES!!!!!! Definitely Earth Song! It is a classic masterpiece with a message that is as poignant as ever.

True MJ fans know all his songs off by heart, so what are they talking about? I totally agree with Boogie’s point as well, they made it a nice, simple set-up that runs smoothly with no crashing. I also think that Michael should definitely perform songs after Bad, especially things from Invincible that he never got to perform, like Threatened, Unbreakable and Butterflies. Whoever wrote this article put their own biased opinion into it saying that anything after Bad wasn’t worth listening to, WHICH IS TOTALLY UNTRUE! I personally love Dangerous, HIStory, BOTDF and Invincible!

Uh, that’s what Youtube is for. Looking up songs some are not familiar with. That’s what I did and I did not complain either like the writer of this article is complaining.

  6. Cbn Says:

Earthsong is incredible so that comment is ridiculous. Its one of his best songs

I think we should be able to request special guests too. Can I kick it off with Jarvis Cocker?
