R&B superstar Kanye West has come up with another curveball: he’s retiring from music in order to focus on his expanding blog empire. West has been hailed within the industry for his pioneering blog, and it seems the advertising revenues are increasing enough to make him decide to devote more time to it.

“It makes perfect sense,” said the star in, yes, a blog post. “People can BitTorrent my tunes all they want, but they can’t touch my ad dollars when I blog about interior design or fashion. It’s the way forward.”

West also says that if he does return to the studio at some stage, he’ll only release music through his Twitter feed, with lyrics limited to 140 characters. “It’s a challenge, but that’s what I thrive on,” he said. Full details can be found on his blog post announcing the news.
