What does Google Wave mean for the music biz?
Google has unveiled its Next Big Thing at its I/O conference. It’s called Google Wave, it’s due to launch later this year, and the company describes it as a “real-time communication platform”.
What’s that? Well, Mashable has a handy beginner’s guide, which explains that it’s a mix of email, instant messaging, wikis, web chat, social networking and project management. Or, to put it another way: Gmail meets Google Talk meets Wikipedia meets Facebook meets Google Docs.
Developers will be able to build their own applications and widgets on top of it, and its features include drag’n'drop file-sharing – which although not the focus, could rile the music industry. Anyway, it seems like something worth getting up to speed with now, before it goes live.

So… this doesn’t really say anything about what Google Wave means for the music biz, does it?

Nope – doesn’t say anything other than I *might* have some sort of p2p issu. Seems like a pretty lame reason to post anything.

We at http://withwaves.com, believe google wave will serve as a platform for people to share and collaborate around music.
We have developed a music related gadget and robot that allows users to play and purchase mp3 songs and albums from the Amazon.com mp3 store.
Not only that but the Robot can detect conversation keywords and turned them into links when you’re talking about artisst, song and albums.
For those of you interested you can check it out at http://amazonmp3.withwaves.com , even if you don’t have google wave yet you can see videos of the robot and gadget in action

How about gadgets for musicians to collaborate on writing and producing music? I can’t find any to embed MP3s directly to provide a player and download capability. This is what we do when we write music together collaboratively, via FTP, etc.
