T.I. gets his own massively multiplayer online game

platinum-lifeHip-hop star T.I. is the subject of a new online game called Platinum Life, which is being developed by Heatwave Interactive.

It puts players in the shoes of an aspiring rapper who has to build their street cred through a variety of missions, from developing your own dance moves to bailing out backing singers.

The plan is to make the game free to play, but have players pay for items within it. “The game is about the aspiration to live the life of T.I.,” says Heatwave boss Anthony Castoro. “It sounds weird, but it plays great.”

T.I. isn’t the first hip-hop star to get his own game – 50 Cent and the Wu-Tang Clan have starred in console titles, while the likes of Lady GaGa, Coldplay and Weezer have launched iPhone games with US developer Tapulous. However, T.I.’s free-to-play MMO is certainly one of the more ambitious examples we’ve seen.
