Two new tools for indie bands: MobBase and DigABand

Emerging artists looking to build a reputation online have no shortage of tools and services with which to do it. Now there’s news of two new offerings which may help.

MixMatchMusic will soon launch a new service called MobBase, which will help indie and unsigned bands to build and manage their own iPhone apps – including providing gig dates and selling merchandise.

There are no details on pricing or full features yet, though, which makes it hard to compare the service’s merits with existing examples, including iLike’s iPhone app initiative, and Mobile Roadie.

Meanwhile, DigABand is aimed at artists with less than 1,000 fans, helping them to launch their own websites and link them up to social media sites including Facebook and Twitter. It also lets artists hook up with each other – for example to arrange gigs together or share fans.

Neither service has launched fully yet, but when they do, they’ll be worth checking out – and comparing to their rivals, naturally.

Without giving out to much information, I can garauntee you that Mobbase is more affordable and superior to any other app service for musicians out there.

My clients http://www.smcrecordings.com took advantage of Mobbase’s platform for Killer Mike, The Jacka & TownThizzness. We will be among some of the first artists to go live with the service in a few weeks when apple approves the apps and places them in the itunes store.
