TDC Play adds unlimited streaming feature
When it launched last year, Danish telco TDC’s Play service was hailed for its innovation in offering broadband and mobile subscribers unlimited music downloads. Now it’s added a new feature: unlimited streaming.
“This was a natural progression in response to the latest market developments and growing consumer demand for streaming services”, says Frank Taubert, CEO of 24-7 Entertainment, which runs Play for TDC. “We are pleased that TDC enhanced their attractive offer with our streaming component and once again, at no additional cost to the subscriber.”
The streaming element is browser-based, with access to the same catalogue of 6.1 million tracks. Users can also stream music while downloading tracks, while there’s also a sharing feature to help users recommend songs to friends.
“Streaming is the future for listening to music. No more time consuming downloads and using up space on your hard disk trying to store all your music,” says TDC’s senior EVP Jesper Theill Eriksen. A slightly strange quote given that TDC hasn’t scrapped the download element of its service.
