Chinese pianist Lang Lang plays Flight Of The Bumblebee. On an iPad.
TweetChinese pianist Lang Lang is apparently known for his flamboyant style, but at a recent concert in San Francisco, he outdid himself. How? By walking on-stage for the encore playing Flight Of The Bumblebee on an iPad. Watch it above. According to a comment on the YouTube video, he was using the Magic Piano app, although it’s impossible to tell from this distance.
We’re expecting a rush of canny promotional videos for bands using iPads, just as The Mentalists and Gary Go picked up headlines last year for playing music on iPhones. But in Lang’s case, it appears to have been simply a fun way to finish off a show. We wouldn’t be surprised if it goes viral now though…

What, the Steinway grand piano the iPad was on top of wasn’t good enough for him?
If I’d been at the concert I’d have asked for my money back. And asked how much Apple paid this idiot for this stunt.

well you could have unplugged your hearing aid, g’pa, as this was just the last encore. lang lang has been known to have a sense of humor and loves smiling at things…..amazingly enough, there are quite a few, so far, artists who have, believe it or not, created work on the ipad and not one of them was paid for their “stunts”..just embracing rather than backgrounding, technological advances…not unlike reason, pro tools, sibelius, finale and yeah, garage band brought digital options for composing, mixing, music notation…
