Basement Jaxx and Dave Stewart launch interactive singles

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

When you’re trying to punt a new music format, you need some decent showcases. French firm MXP4 has started that process, signing up Basement Jaxx to promote its new Raindrops single using MXP4’s interactive single widget, which lets fans twiddle about with the different remixes of the song.

Meanwhile, ex-Eurythmic Dave Stewart is using the technology to provide multiple mixes of his old band’s Sweet Dreams, as well as his new protege Cindy Gomez’s single Again and Again.

“MXP4 have created a cool way to pack a load of information into a fun to use widget which is so easy to play and share,” says Stewart.

Dave Stewart slams MySpace, creates mobile music game with Nokia

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Ex Eurythmics man Dave Stewart isn’t a big fan of MySpace, it seems. “Rupert Murdoch bought MySpace, and he bought every kid’s music and video – that’s 1.6 million bands’ songs – and they did’t get a share of anything. There’s something not quite right there,” he said, talking to Music Ally at Nokia’s Games Summit in Rome yesterday.

However, Stewart and Nokia also announced plans for an innovative new mobile game, Dance Fabulous, which will attempt to break a new artist called Cindy Gomez. The game will feature her songs, dance moves and avatar, and potentially will direct gamers off to the Nokia Music Store to buy the tracks too.

Full details will be in our interview in today’s Report, due to be sent out this afternoon.
