The average user of a G1 Android handset has already downloaded more than 40 applications from the Android Market store, according to Cole Brodman, CTO of T-Mobile USA, which sells the handset.

From today, UK owners of the T-Mobile G1 handset - the first phone to run Google's Android operating system - will be able to buy applications from its Android Market store.
