Shipments of mobile phones to Australia will exceed 12m in 2012 with smart phones accounting for more than 47%. There were 9m shipments during 2007 with 3.55m of these during the fourth quarter. Mobiles are being upgraded more frequently and new shipments will grow 62% faster than a corresponding increase in new subscriptions. 77% of all subscriptions will be to 3G networks by 2012.
