Apple has agreed a deal with Japanese mobile operator SoftBank to sell the iPhone – its first deal in Japan. The news has come as something of a surprise, given that SoftBank is only the third largest operator in Japan, and Apple had been in negotiations with NTT DoCoMo. However, SoftBank has been aggressively chasing growth, so it was more likely to agree to Apple’s terms in order to secure the handset.
