Consultant Deloitte has launched something called the Deloitte Digital Index, which aims to measure, track and predict changes in the consumer takeup of digital products and services in the UK. Digital music is strangely absent from its initial 12 areas of focus, but MP3 players and DAB radio are. 46% of the population had MP3 players at the end of April this year, a rise of just 1% since January 2007. The company suggests manufacturers need to focus on sound quality, storage capacity and price to attract more consumers. Meanwhile, Deloitte reckons 22% of UK households now own one or more DAB digital radios, and predicts this will reach 27% by the end of the year
