Now that it’s got out of the direct music retail game, consumer electronics firm Sony is keen to partner with more successful digital music services. To that end, it’s just signed separate deals with Napster and 7digital to bundle their services with its Walkman Wirefree digital players. Both deals apply to the UK. The 7digital deal involves in-box vouchers offering five free music video downloads – the first time 7digital has partnered in this way with a hardware manufacturer. Meanwhile, several Wirefree handsets will come preloaded with Napster To Go, and a 14-day trial.
